Tim K. (Kvasnosky) is a Los Angeles–based film and television composer and producer whose work operates at the confluence of cinematic scoring, contemporary sound design, and affective musical authorship. A Seattle native and NYU alumnus, Kvasnosky emerged from a background as a jazz pianist and studio multi-instrumentalist before turning toward narrative composition, a trajectory that continues to inform the harmonic language, rhythmic elasticity, and textural sensitivity of his work for picture.
He has composed scores for multiple feature films and serial works, including the Sundance Film Festival–selected I Am Michael (produced by Gus Van Sant) and the Tribeca Film Festival–selected King Cobra, as well as J.T. LeRoy (2018), the biographical drama that served as the closing night film of the 2018 Toronto International Film Festival and starred Kristen Stewart and Laura Dern. His music is distinguished by formal restraint, material economy, and an intuitive attunement to dramaturgy—privileging character-centered thematic construction, tactile instrumental timbres, and sculpted negative space over declarative spectacle.
He has received multiple Clio Awards and a Cannes Grand Prix for compositional excellence in advertising.
His broader discographic history includes releases on Warner Records, Verve, Stones Throw, Om Records, Atlantic, EMI, and Universal, and he is a founding member of the electronic project Tiny Hearts.
